in autocad 2009 you can do a realistic 3d design. but 2002 version is good too for the beginners.
in 2D we cant convert it into 3D but we can use 2D into 3D using the same software (Autocad) all we have to do is there are a lots of tool bars that we can use for 3D. You can use these command like extrude, subtract, loft, sweep, reg, revolve etc. to form of any as you wanted.
you can do it, its not that hard as 3d studio max or maya.
I’m just a beginner and I do my furniture design (2D) using autocad. Do you know what’s the best way to take my 2D designs to 3D in autocad?
My boss is asking me to do that too but I can’t find anything on how to “convert” my 2D dwg to 3D.

the best software for furniture design is no other than autocad man!!!
